My daemon is...

Before I saw ADM's daemon, I did not even know that Philip Pullman's The Golden Compass will be a movie (in December 2007). I'm not sure I like the notion of making the His Dark Materials trilogy into films, but I suppose this will have the evangelicals complaining bitterly about the books' overtly anti-institutional religion point of view. The books are quite different from, say, C.S. Lewis's Narnia books, but equally enjoyable.

What??? That takes all the fun out of it!

I realized I was going to love these books in the second chapter of The Golden Compass when Pullman makes a passing to Pope John Calvin moving the papacy to Geneva...

Pullman had me in the first couple of pages. If you haven't read his Victorian thrillers, you should! My daemon also ended up an ocelot.
